• The lawsuit emphasized the marketing campaign focusing on well-known actors accusing that the tactics could have caused the resale value to rise on the secondary.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged Stoner Cats 2 LLC (SC2) for illegally raising $8 million through the sale of unregistered crypto asset securities in the form of NFTs to fund an animated series. SC2 sold over 10,000 NFTs, emphasizing potential profits from resales due to the series' success. Despite marketing tactics and a rapid sell-out, the SEC determined that SC2 violated federal securities laws. Without admitting guilt, SC2 will pay a $1 million penalty, establish a fund for affected investors, and destroy all remaining NFTs.
